Oxford University Snooker

The OUPSC Snooker Team plays in the Oxford and District Billiards & Snooker Association (ODBSA) Snooker league on Monday evenings. We play as the East Oxford Conservative Club (Oxford Uni) team and the results of the current season can be seen on the University Snooker page.

We run practice weekly on a Sunday at the East Oxford Conservative Club for any standard of player, and a knockout completion (cuppers) starting in Hilary Term. Please contact the OUPSC Snooker Captain on the committee page for more information.

We use these practice sessions along with the Monday night league to prepare for our two main tournaments of the year: The Midlands Universities Cup, held at the start of Hillary Term, and the BUCS snooker championships held at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. Results from these tournaments and the Varsity Snooker Match are given below.

BUCS Snooker 2015 - 12th–15th March

BUCS Snooker was held on the 12th–15th of March at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. This year Oxford was only able to field one team. The group stages where tough for Oxford, losing three of their matches 6-4 to Southampton 1st, Manchester Met. 1sts and Exeter 2nds. However, a crucial 7-3 victory of the University of Birmingham 1st team sealed 4th place in the group and a place in the trophy quarter finals.

Oxford faced a strong side in Nottingham 1sts in the quarter finals, a team that had beaten Oxford 8-2 in the Midlands cup. However, crucial 2-0 victories from Paul Allen and Adam Smith saw Oxford get revenge for the previous loss by winning 6-4 and continuing into the semi final.

Oxford faced an easier prospect in the semi finals against a second team from The University of Warwick. Unfortunately, with two black ball frames going against them, Oxford lost an agonising 6-4.

Midlands Snooker 2015 - 24th – 25th January

A team of 5 (Paul Allen (c), Sam Bunt, Adam Smith, Abrar Chaudhary, Will Meng) travelled to Coventry for Midlands Snooker 2015. Although the team didn't do as well as expected it was a great experience and a good warm-up for BUCS and the Varsity match.
